For nearly 50 days, more than 5,300 of you participated and voted for the colors of the new Orion series. The votes are now closed, and we are happy to share with you the results and conclusions of the watch configurator.
DIAL
The results are clear: you want above all a tone-on-tone dial between the base and the upper level. The white dials, then blue, gray, and green, collected the most votes. We can already exclude an ochre dial for this launch, as it did not appear at the top of any list.
To our great surprise, white on white alone accounts for nearly 25% of the configurations, which is equal to all the blue dials combined.
The blue dials received almost a quarter of your votes. It is interesting to note the prevalence of the BLUE/WHITE dial, although it ranks lower than the monochrome variations.
The gray dials follow the same logic as the blue dials, with 15% of your votes. While the monochrome variations are the most popular, the distribution is more balanced here and allows for a mix of colors.
Green dials do not win your preference, with only 7% of the creations. The trend is similar, with a notable presence of white accents breaking up the colors—though this remains less popular compared to the monochrome variations (GREEN/GREEN and GREEN/BLUE).
Although tone-on-tone prevails for each color, it’s important to note your preference for alternating colors (62%). When excluding tone-on-tone options, this figure is around 50%. Beyond the white dial variations, we’ll keep this in mind for future editions.
MOON DISC
For the moon disk, the result is clear: the realistic blue version of the starry night garners 75% of the votes (4,000).
On the latter, it is the white moon which is naturally proposed (65%), followed by a variation of other colours associated with their dials (blue 12%, yellow 7%, . . .).
We will therefore feature a realistic white moon against a similarly realistic blue night sky. The option to play with shades of blue remains open to ensure the night sky matches the dial. Moons with strong colors using Japanese Luminova are excluded, so we are focusing on SuperLuminova BGW9 or C5.
TROTTEUSE & LUMINOVA
The analysis is more complex here due to the variety of models you’ve designed, so we’ll summarize the results textually rather than graphically.
The white second hand is preferred (25%), followed closely by red second hands (21%) or blued steel (18%). We can see a desire to offer a strong color on the second hand, in contrast with the dial . Polished steel second hands are left aside and appear on less than 10% of your creations.
As for the harmony of colors between the dial and the second hand, we naturally observe a strong disparity:
White dials: White second hand (25%), red (20%) or blue (20%)
Blue dials: White second hand (25%), red (25%) or blue (20%)
Gray dials: Diversity with 20% for each color (excluding green)
Green dials: White, orange or red second hand (respectively 20%)
Brown dials: White, blue or orange second hand (respectively 20%)
The second hands are mainly associated with white luminova (55%), in monochrome with the luminova BGW9 appliques. As soon as color is introduced, we can however note a preponderance of tone on tone (40%), with red luminova on red second hand, etc.
CONCLUSION
In view of the results, we have identified 3 trends for this new series:
A tone-on-tone dial: blue, gray, green and white
A second hand in a bold color
A white moon and a blue starry sky
The launch series will be revealed in a few days. We will get back to you soon!
