MU:N, OFFICIAL PARTNER OF THE EVENT NIGHTS OF THE STARS

The Night of the Stars, organized since 1991 by the French Astronomy Association (AFA), is a major free national event dedicated to the discovery of the night sky. Every summer, more than 500 events are organized across France by nearly 350 clubs, associations and local authorities, bringing together tens of thousands of enthusiasts around telescopes, workshops and conferences.

Through this new edition, Mu:n is proud to partner with this national initiative and to support the AFA, in order to strengthen the dialogue and poetry that unite the worlds of watchmaking and astronomy.

NUIT DES ÉTOILES

A SKY SUSPENDED AT THE HEART OF THE DIAL

Conceived around the Nuit des Étoiles event, this creation features a map of the sky on a vast lunar disc occupying the center of the dial, animated by a flying seconds hand. Constructed on three levels, the watch plays with transparencies and volumes to give the impression of a sky suspended beneath the glass.

The moon is no longer just a complication: it becomes, along with the starry sky, the central element around which the entire watch is structured.

A BRIDGE BETWEEN TWO UNIVERSES

FROM THE INFINITELY LARGE TO THE INFINITELY SMALL

Astronomy and horology are two worlds on opposite scales, yet both are driven by the same obsession: to observe and measure time. We contemplate the immensity of the night sky or the infinite and regular ballet of movement with the same emotion.

Through the Night of the Stars series, we wish to strengthen the dialogue between these two worlds, to celebrate the magic of mechanics and the beauty of the night sky.

A RELIEF MOON IN 8 MILLIMETERS

The Moon, fully luminescent (BGW9), is built on a realistic representation of the celestial body. A femtosecond laser, accurate to the micron and operating at a frequency of 10⁻¹⁵ seconds, is used to carve and burn the material at varying intensities. Each crater is revealed and burnished, with a relief perceptible to the naked eye.

This innovative printing method was developed in collaboration with the miniaturization workshop AJS Production , which won an award at the EPHJ trade fair in Geneva in 2016.

A 1991 SKY MAP

The disc is an exact map of the sky on the day of the first night of the stars in 1991. The reproduction of this map is accurate to the micron, or 0.001 millimeter.

A SKY THAT COMES TO LIFE AT NIGHT

The moon disc incorporates Swiss Made Super-LumiNova® BGW9, a photoluminescent material that absorbs ambient light and emits it in the dark. As night falls, the Nuit des Étoiles collection reveals a new dimension.

The first-magnitude stars are engraved deeper to reach the luminescent layer beneath the dial's paint. This technique allows the constellations to appear naturally in the dark with varying degrees of intensity.

AN ODE TO ASTRONOMIC POETRY

A DOUBLE FINISH DIAL ON THREE LEVELS

The dial is composed of two separate pieces, fitted together on two levels. The central moon, located on a third plane below the main dial, accentuates the depth of this tiered architecture.

The outer part of the dial features a cocktail finish achieved through cold enameling, offering a smooth, glossy surface with great visual depth. The slightly translucent inner part subtly conceals the lower portion of the moon disc.

The straight baton-shaped hour markers and hands break up the dial's smoothness. Their alternating polished and brushed finishes capture every ray of light. Like a shooting star, this light glides over the edges, bringing the watch to life with every movement of the wrist.

SECOND ORBITAL

The second hand was conceived as a satellite evolving in orbit around the central moon.

THE WORKSHOPS BEHIND THIS EDITION

This edition was produced in partnership with Franco-Swiss workshops, combining traditional knowledge and cutting-edge technology.

Founded in 1950 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Sellita started out as an assembler of mechanical movements. The company went on to design and produce its own range of movements, before establishing itself over the years as a veritable pillar of the Swiss watchmaking industry.

As partners in the Mu:n Projects since October 2020, Sellita manufactures are responsible for the development and production of the SW200 automatic movements.

CALIBER • SETTINGS

A French-speaking company founded in 1992, PERFEX has forged close links with all the players in the Shenzhen industrial basin over more than 30 years. The beating heart of the modern watchmaking industry, the region is now supplanting European basins in the production of standardized parts, both in terms of tooling and price.

Since March 2020, PERFEX has been supplying materials and industrial components for the Mu:n Projects from its control office in Hong Kong.

Founded in 1983 in the Franche-Comté village of Avoudrey, the SIS group is the standard-bearer of French haute maroquinerie. Backed by 30 years' experience and an in-house training school, the group boasts a combination of traditional craftsmanship and state-of-the-art machinery.

Following a collaboration initiated in January 2022, the SIS Group has been responsible for the entire leather goods range of Mu:n Projects since March 2023.

LEATHERS • STRAPS

Founded in 1970, PH Saner SA has lived and breathed watchmaking. From a small family workshop specializing in the winding of mechanical movements, the company was buoyed by the Quartz boom of the 1980s. With its own production site, the workshop returned to its core business in the early 2000s, heralding the return of mechanical movements.

The workshop has been supporting Mu:n projects since April 2022. It is the guarantor of the Swiss Made label, and controls the entire assembly chain: from movement modifications to after-sales service.

Founded in 1998, AJS Production specializes in the modification of movements and the production of miniature parts for major watch manufacturers. Backed by a design office that is constantly innovating, the company distinguished itself at the Exhibitors Grand Prix 2016 in Geneva for its expertise in miniaturization.

Since January 2021, AJS Production has been supporting Mu:n Projects from the preparation of technical drawings to the development and production of miniature parts (oscillating weight, moon disk, etc.).

CALIBER SW288-1M SELLITA

SWISS WATCHMAKING EXCELLENCE

Built on a Sellita SW288 base, the movement has undergone several modifications: removal of the day disc, replacement of the moon kit and rearrangement of the components in order to enlarge the area dedicated to the moon.

A standard-bearer of Swiss excellence, the SW288 features a rapid day/night correction, a day-date display, and a moon phase complication. It is offered with a sophisticated adjustment to +/-7 seconds per day, controlled in Switzerland at the PH Saner workshop.
